The AIA Fort Worth Design Awards program recognizes outstanding architectural, urban design and unbuilt projects by architects practicing in the Fort Worth chapter to promote public interest in design excellence.

A reception will be held in the Café Modern at 5:15pm. Award announcements will begin at 5:45pm, followed by the the lecture “Architecture and Territory” by Emmanual Ramirez of Estudio MMX.

“In Estudio MMX we aim to study the idea of territory from multiple perspectives and scales, ranging from the deeply intimate spaces to the collective realms. These contexts where life develops are in constant change and pose scenarios for thriving experiences, but also unexpected risks.

This quest has led us to continuously think about the need as a community to devise a new spatial contract; one that recognizes that public is not enough. Public need to become more collective, inclusive and tolerant. Through the presentation of some of our projects developed in the last 13 years, since the foundation of the studio, we seek to open a conversation about this idea, specifically about strategies to requalify territories into intensively collective realms. Places that extend the household scale into greater spatial end experiential opportunities; that embrace the contemporary tensions, conflicts and confrontations; that proposes alternative and inclusive urban life experiences. We believe collective is the new public.”
